Community Music School General Policies

Registration Fee

The initial registration fee for new students is $35.00.  An annual registration fee is due July 1st of each year. There is a discount for multiple students in the same family on this fee.


30 minute lesson – $30.00 (cash/check discount – $29.00)
45 minute lesson – $45.00 (cash/check discount – $43.50)
60 minute lesson – $60.00 (cash/check discount – $58.00)
75 minute lesson – $75.00 (cash/check discount – $72.50)

Monthly 4 x 30 minute lessons – $119.50 (cash/check discount – $116.00)
Monthly 4 x 45 minute lessons – $179.50 (cash/check discount – $174.00)
Monthly 4 x 60 minute lessons – $239.00 (cash/check discount – $232.00)
Monthly 4 x 75 minute lessons – $299.00 (cash/check discount – $290.00)

Our private lessons are based on a month-to-month commitment and payment is made in advance by the 1st of the month. If a student begins lessons in the middle of the month we will prorate for the number of lessons before the beginning of the first full month.

Tuition for group classes and ensembles vary and will be posted on the flyers for each class or at the office.  Tuition is due in full before the first class.

Limited financial assistance is available to qualified applicants for private lessons only.  Awards are usually made in September. Please call or visit us on the web at for more information.

Attendance, Missed Lesson and Makeup Policy

Regular attendance at all lessons, classes and rehearsals is expected. Your tuition reserves you a weekly time slot and membership within the studio. The time of your lesson has been reserved for you and will not be available to other students. As a result, it is usually not practical to make up missed lessons due to the instructor’s restricted schedule. Any lesson missed due to student absence will not be made up and there will be no refund or credit of tuition.

The only exception to this policy is made due to required school functions. Arrangements must be made at least two weeks in advance of the applicable date with both the teacher and the administrative staff. A note will be required from the school teacher to receive a credit.

In the event the instructor cancels a lesson or class, a make-up lesson will be offered at a mutually convenient time or, in the event the lesson cannot be made up, the student will not be charged.  FCCMS reserves the right to provide a qualified substitute for lessons in some cases.

Students arriving late will not have their lesson time extended. Students arriving late by more than half of their lesson period will be considered absent, and their instructor may be dismissed.

If a class or ensemble is cancelled, the full tuition will be refunded.  There will be no refund for any classes/ensembles missed by the student.  The teacher will arrange for a substitute if the teacher is going to miss the class/ensemble.

Forms of payment

We accept payments via cash and checks as well as Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.  Check payments may be made directly in our offices (at FSCJ/South Campus) or mailed to:

You may use your credit card online or in the office.  We also offer automatic billing through the Payments Gateway and PayPal Business Pro, proven safe and secure methods for paying ongoing fees while enrolled at the school. When registered with this program, we will automatically bill your card no later than the 2nd day of the month.

Late Fee, Returned Checks/Credit Card Chargebacks

A late fee of $30.00 per student will be charged on payments received after the due date.

In the event the student accumulates two unpaid lessons, all future lessons must be suspended until unpaid balance and the upcoming month’s payment is received.

There is a $30 fee for any returned checks or credit card chargebacks, in addition to any additional bank charges that occur.  You will be unable to pay by check if you have a returned check for the period of one year.

Cancellation Policy

We require one month in advance written notice to discontinue lessons.  For example, if you plan to discontinue/suspend lessons in February, we will need to receive your written notice by the first lesson in January.  If no notice is given by the first lesson of the month the student/parent will be responsible for the next full month’s tuition.

Campus Use Policy

FSCJ Security keeps the practice rooms locked to ensure the safety of students.  If you arrive early and would like to warm-up in a practice room, please check in with the front office.  Students that have not checked in will not be allowed to be in a practice room.


FCCMS are guests on the FSCJ Campus.  Please keep in mind that FCCMS is located on the campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville, South Campus – a busy and well-trafficked facility.  It is a safe environment, but the obvious precautions should be taken. Please walk your student to/from the parking lot to Building N where the school is located.  We are not responsible for what happens to your child outside of the building.

Please pick up your student on time.  Do not make students wait outside unattended; FSCJ Security will not allow that and we cannot supervise any student outside our facility.  For any brief time that your child must wait to get picked up, please have them wait in Building N while the FCCMS office is open for their safety and your peace of mind.
